Palm Pre vs. iPhone 3G-S
Well after much consternation and second guessing myself, i’ve decided to go w/ the iPhone. My decision came down to three rational issues and one irrational one. First the irrational - I’ve always just WANTED an iPhone. Due to good old phone subsidies and 2 year contracts I couldn’t pull the plug and make the buy. But i have always coveted them and I couldn’t get over...
Palm Pre Review
I’ve had a Palm Pre for 2 days now trying to decide if this is the next phone for me, or if I will follow the crowd and go w/ an iPhone. I am a 6+ year AT&T customer and on my 3rd generation Treo, so I am somewhat of a Palm devotee, but I am also a Mac user, so my allegiances are torn. Here’s what I’ve found so far.
+ Form Factor, Form Factor, Form Factor. The device form...

GrandCentral - Unfied Messaging Done Right? →
I’ve had a Grand Central number for a couple years. I got an early Beta invite (don’t remember how). I played with it, but could never switch over to to GC as my only phone number. There were two major flaws.
SMS support - If I gave out my Grand Central number as my main/only number, it wouldn’t accept SMS. Looks like Google Voice has solved this. Yeah! (This is no smal...

Dilbert on Startups
In his blog post yesterday, Scott Adams (Creator of Dilbert) talks about Quality following Popularity. He gives some interesting examples from the entertainment world of products (shows) that weren’t that good to begin with (poor quality), but were given enough time to grow an audience (popularity), and eventually improved their product. Adams provides a two part litmus test on whether or...

Choices Narrowed for First U.S. CTO - BusinessWeek →
Somehow I missed this. I commented to several friends back at the time of the election that I thought it was time for a Cabinet level CTO-like position. With so much of our economy based on technology, and the importance of the internet in business and consumer affairs, it makes sense to me to put technology on the same footing with Agriculture, Defense, Environment, Labor, etc. I’m...

My Note to Senator Dole...
I don’t know what came over me this AM, but after reading the paper for the last two days about Elizabeth Dole’s attacks on Kay Hagan, I was fuming during my run (good motivation). So I came home and fired off this note….(I should have taken a bit of time to edit, but this was stream of consciousness frustration).
